The Swing
The Swing is a lavish, breathless reconstruction of life in Munich before 1914. The Lautenschlags are a Bavarian-French family overflowing with artistry but short on financial acumen and always close to chaos. The family's ups and downs are seen through the eyes of the youngest sibling of four, loud, brusque, and ambitious. The father, a garden architect, suffers indoors, the mother, a French former pianist, is a housewife in god’s wrath. Within all the laughter, there is a sense of the first world war coming.
